Former NBA guard Desmond Mason was arrested in Oklahoma last week on an outstanding warrant from Texas and remains in custody, local law enforcement confirmed.
Police stated that Mason was taken into custody on Thursday in the Bricktown entertainment district. Prior to being booked, he was transported to a hospital due to a medical issue.
According to News 9, Mason is being held on a “flight to avoid” charge tied to a felony warrant from Collin County, Texas. Further details regarding the warrant have not been disclosed.
Mason was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the first round of the 2000 NBA Draft and captured the NBA Slam Dunk Contest title in 2001. He also played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Charlotte Hornets, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Sacramento Kings during his NBA career.

In 2024, Mason was jailed in Oklahoma City on a contempt of court charge related to his divorce proceedings.
