Barcelona clinched the Spanish La Liga title for the 29th time in history after a 2-0 victory over Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou.
The most notable absence in the Clasico was French winger Kylian Mbappe, who reportedly left training just five minutes before its end due to physical discomfort. This move sparked widespread suspicion within the Real Madrid camp.
By doing so, Mbappe avoided witnessing Real Madrid watch their archrivals lift the La Liga trophy on their own turf and in front of their fans, while Los Blancos ended the season empty-handed.
Regardless, Mbappe’s absence in the Clasico continues to stir controversy, especially after a series of dramatic events in recent days.
According to Mundo Deportivo, radio host Siro López said on the program “El Partidazo” via Cadena COPE that some believe Mbappe’s absence might have been intentional.
López stated, “I wouldn’t be surprised if he stayed away to slap his teammates who caused Xabi Alonso’s departure, because his relationship with Arbeloa was never good from the start.”
He added, “Mbappe believes Alonso’s exit was a mistake. It’s like he’s saying: ‘Now fix the situation yourselves. You’re the ones who messed it up.'”
