
Colombia’s Natalia Linares secured a bronze medal in the women’s long jump at the World Athletics Indoor Championships on Sunday in Torun, Poland. The event was dominated by Portugal’s Agate de Sousa, who won gold with a leap of 6.92 meters on her fifth attempt.
Linares earned her spot on the podium with a jump of 6.80 meters, her best mark of the season. Italy’s Larissa Iapichino took silver with a distance of 6.87 meters.
This indoor bronze adds to Linares’ previous outdoor world bronze medal, which she won in September in Tokyo.
Linares led the competition after the first two rounds, posting jumps of 6.79 meters and 6.80 meters. However, De Sousa took the lead in the third round with a 6.82-meter effort. In the fifth round, Iapichino jumped 6.84 meters to move into second place, while De Sousa produced the winning 6.92-meter leap.
Spain’s Irati Mitxelena also competed in the final, finishing 12th with a best jump of 6.43 meters.
