Here’s how the atmosphere looks on Las Ramblas among the Barça fans!

A minor issue prevented the celebration of Barça’s 29th league title from taking place at the usual spot, the Font de Canaletes. The area surrounding the iconic fountain, located in the first stretch of Las Ramblas, is currently under construction.
But the construction work didn’t dampen the excitement: thousands of Barcelona supporters gathered just steps away from Canaletes, in the expansive square of Plaça Catalunya—a spacious venue ideal for accommodating the massive crowd eager to celebrate Flick’s second league title.
Although the German coach lost his father just hours before the match, the euphoria over the title swept through the entire city as soon as Rashford opened the scoring against Real Madrid. Ferran Torres’s 2-0 goal was simply the final blow to a Madrid side that had already given up on the league weeks earlier.
Many Barça fans took aim at their eternal rivals: some wore plastic cones on their heads, poking fun at Arbeloa, the Real Madrid coach who couldn’t turn the team’s fortunes around after Xabi Alonso’s dismissal in mid-January.

Though rain threatened to slightly dull the festivities, nothing and no one could stop the fans. Mostly young and bursting with enthusiasm, the Barcelona faithful flocked to Plaça Catalunya to cheer, shout, and celebrate the fact that Barça has been, by far, the best team in Spain. The league title proves it, the performances confirm it, and the statistics back it up.
A Historic Tradition
The reason Barça fans celebrate their titles at the Canaletes fountain dates back to the early 20th century: that’s where the offices of the sports newspaper ‘La Rambla’ were located. At the time, radio wasn’t yet in use, so reporters received match updates via teletype and then posted the results on a blackboard for fans to see. That’s why, every time the blaugrana won, celebrations filled the area.

The tradition continued even after the transistor radio became common, with groups of fans still gathering to listen to matches on the radio. Much time has passed, but some things remain unchanged—like the tradition of celebrating titles at Canaletes. Or, as happened this Sunday, a few meters up the street, right in the middle of Plaça Catalunya, the heart of the Catalan capital.
