According to talkSPORT’s chief football reporter Alex Crook, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has formally advised the club’s hierarchy to do everything possible to retain the services of on-loan England forward Marcus Rashford.
Rashford has impressed during his loan spell at Barcelona this season, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists, becoming the first English player in nearly 40 years to win the La Liga title with the club. The player himself is keen to stay, but his loan deal includes a €30 million buy option that Barcelona are reluctant to pay in full, a stance that has disappointed Manchester United.
While Rashford is no longer in Manchester United’s long-term plans, the club is refusing to let him go at a reduced fee. Additionally, the player’s wages will increase following Manchester United’s qualification for the Champions League, further complicating negotiations.
