According to a report from *AS*, LaLiga President Javier Tebas has responded to Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez’s recent press conference remarks. Tebas denied accusations that LaLiga paid Relevo €25 million to criticize Florentino, and stressed that the decision to hold presidential elections at Real Madrid must be respected.
Speaking during an event in Santander alongside Racing Santander president Manolo Higuera, Tebas addressed the claims made by the Real Madrid chief. The roundtable discussion, organized by the European University of the Atlantic, had originally been scheduled for March 4 but was postponed due to the El Barcal tragedy.
When asked about Florentino’s assertion that he would not resign and that the club would proceed with presidential elections, Tebas chose to stay out of the matter. “That has to be respected. Every administrator knows how to handle their own club,” he said.
However, Tebas was more direct when responding to Florentino’s allegations against him. The Real Madrid president had claimed that LaLiga paid Relevo €25 million to tarnish his image. Tebas flatly denied this.
“That is simply not true. Sometimes he cites one figure, sometimes another. They even took us to the CSD over this. It’s absolutely false. They live off a victim narrative and lies,” Tebas stated.
“Given Florentino’s standing in the business world and his contributions to Real Madrid’s history, I feel sorry for the club as a fan — a fan who is now in a dormant state. You cannot keep going on like this, living on lies.”
